Whenever I have thought of Vienna in the past, the next thought has always been music. And the next, Mozart. Hence this was one of the first tickets that I booked as soon as it was confirmed that we were traveling there. Mozart and Strauss concert at Schönbrunn Palace.

Vienna is famous for its concerts and you would find many Vienna Concert Venues hosting Mozart orchestras performing his compositions. But I chose the one performed at Schönbrunn Palace to experience a magical evening in a royal setting.

We took the metro U4 from Karlsplatz to Schönbrunn station and then the main palace and gardens was just a short walk away. Our relaxed walk enjoying the cool breeze was so very pleasing indeed. As we came closer to the palace, the venue was on our left and making its presence felt.

Before we take you through a glimpse of this two hour journey of classical entertainment, we wish to thank Ms. Petra from Box Office Orangery, WKE Konzert & Eventveranstaltungs GmbH, Vienna for extending Travelwisesr and travel blog, Travel with passion the press privileges of selective still & video photography during the performance, which otherwise is prohibited. We truly appreciate your and your team gestures in helping us take this amazing concert to our readers and music lovers all around the world.

The happy faces welcomed us for the show and guided us towards the ticket room for exchanging our vouchers. We picked up our tickets, had a look at the venue and still had an hour with us for a quick visit to the palace and the palace grounds.

Schönbrunn Palace was the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers, located in Hietzing, Vienna. The 1,441-room Rococo palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural and historic monuments in the country. Since the mid 1950s it has been a major tourist attraction. The history of the palace and its vast gardens spans over 300 years, reflecting the changing tastes, interests, and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs. Let us go in and experience the beauty. The royal palace, flowers, green landscapes and marvelous creations.

The sculpted garden space between the palace and the Neptune Fountain is called the Great Parterre. The French garden, a big part of the area, was planned by Jean Trehet, a disciple of Andre Le Notre in 1695. It contains among other things, a maze. The complex however includes many more attractions which we would see as we go around.

It was time to be back to the venue as we were approaching the start time. Before we get back in, here is some interesting bit about the concert that we are set to witness.
At the Orangery Schönbrunn, a place rich in tradition, the Schönbrunn Palace Festival Orchestra and the Schönbrunn Palace Festival Ensemble perform the most beautiful tunes of the classic composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauss. It is the same venue where Mozart himself performed in 1786. The concert is a fine selection of masterful music by Mozart and Strauss, rounded off by dance and vocal performances. Come let’s experience.

The stage is set for the performance to begin as we settle in at the lovely venue. The performers on stage soon thereafter, get a big round of applause from the audience. The concert starts and we start getting lost in the beauty of music and dance.

After an awesome one hour of entertainment, we had a short fifteen minute break. Time enough for a visit to the washroom, a coffee or a beer and a little bit of shopping, as we did, of a few mementos to take back as memories. We are now back inside and let me now take you through a glimpse of what you can enjoy while you are here at Schönbrunn.

We were approaching the end of the concert and before we exit, here is the parting piece for you.
