We started early after having our breakfast in the famous ‘Chetan Swadisht Kachori’ shop near our homestay in Old Dehradun. Next two days was planned for complete relaxation and some adventure in this beautiful destination we were on our way to. To be true we fell in love with this property the moment we saw the photographs of the resort. And next I knew we were heading there for 2 nights at Raga on the Ganges, Rishikesh.
Our morning plan included a visit to the Rishikesh landmarks on our way up to our resort in the hills. The sightseeing took longer than we had anticipated yet it turned to be a lovely half a day. The first look of Raga looked exactly like the photograph we had seen. But once inside there was so much more waiting for us. As the golf cart zipped us off to our room after check-in.

Right from the time we stepped in to the resort with Sunita the duty manager accompanying us to our room, it was great interacting with some employees at different levels. One common thing that I noticed was that they all seemed happy and served as if they owned the place.
Sunita herself was so sweet and caring and happens to come from my hometown Kolkata though originally from Nepal. That talks a lot about the management of this quite a huge resort. And an amazingly beautiful one.

Ganga Aarti at Raga
Ganga Aarti is a much loved hindu ritual and puja performed for Mother Ganges. And all throughout the country where the river flows, it now is an evening celebration be it Varanasi, Haridwar, Rishikesh and now Kolkata as well among other cities. At Raga it was a lovely evening as well with many of us holidayers joining in the Aarti.

This journey was one of the most outstanding part of our trip after reaching ‘Raga on the Ganges’. And if you ask me this experience itself was worth much more than all that we had invested for this vacation.
So enjoy this wonderful morning full of peace, the chirping of birds, monkeys staring at you, langoors jumping around and the occasional vehicle passing by as we start our trek from outside our resort on the highway and a Yoga session at the end to round off the trip either at the beach or back at the resort.

The breakfast spread at Burhans is quite lavish and you practically can’t check all of them out. But whatever be your preferred choice you will mostly find it here. Be it veg or non veg and a wide variety of cakes, cookies, sweet, cereals, fruits and juices. Their made-to-order dosas turned out to be our favorite and of course my cheese omelette.
What’s more?
Good experiences are about good people around. And we found plenty of them during our stay including these three smiling support staff all eager to help. And then what brought a smile on our faces during breakfast and dinner time was the presence of these two great energetic guys. Girish & Gurupal. They were always around when you needed anything with their happy smile and superfast service. It was nice chatting with them as well.
