While we were searching for a good accommodation in Munich we also had the price factor in mind. To be honest we did wish to stay near to the city center provided the tariff was reasonable. And then we chanced upon this property which drew our attention in Munich North. It looked a great option being one of the most trusted brands and it reminded us of our earlier great experiences with them. So our minds were fixed and we booked at a great price. But once there after a road trip from Berlin we found out how good is Munich North for a stay.

How to reach Munich North

The best way to travel within Munich is to use the extensive U Bahn underground & S Bahn rapid railway network. Wherever you may be putting up during your stay you would find a connection nearby. You can walk or reach the stations using connecting buses or trams depending on where your hotel is located. It is not only cost-effective but also very convenient as well. Head to Munchen Hauptbahnhof, the Munich central station from the airport or central bus terminus and you would have plenty of options to reach your hotel.

Munchen Hauptbahnhof

Hauptbahnhof apart from being the central point for all your commuting needs it’s also a great place for shopping, food and just to chill out if you have the time for a coffee, a drink or some snacks. And for the residents it’s also from where many get their dinner packed on their way home.

Every evening on our way back to our hotel we too picked up some sandwiches, burgers and fries to munch in our room with our drinks before dinner. And some donuts as well. Come have a look at the wide variety of options available for you.

Hauptbahnhof to Scheidplatz

On our first day after reaching Munich we took the U Bahn to Frankfurter Ring underground station which was a 10 mins walk from our hotel. However on subsequent days we opted to get down at Scheidplatz station. And then we took the bus 141 to Ingolstadter Strasse stop which was a 5 mins walk to our hotel.

Scheidplatz

Scheidplatz is a nice neighborhood in Munich North with beautiful parks around where you can just relax and spend a while. We did that every evening before we took the bus to our hotel.

The other great attraction for us was the presence of an Indian restaurant ‘Daawat’ where we had dinner one evening. It was nice with an impressive menu to choose from, the food very tasty and the prices not too exorbitant.

Ingolstadter Strasse – Our hotel neighborhood

This location is famous for the corporate headquarters of leading business houses. What we loved was the peace around with no crowds. Moreover the area is very safe as we ourselves experienced the day we landed here and walked for 10 mins through the deserted streets with our luggage late in the night.

Holiday Inn Express

Before we take you around to give you a peek into the hotel let me confess that we had a great time during our stay. The reasons were a beautiful expansive property, well appointed rooms and more importantly great staff always willing to help with a smile. But there are few other great reasons as well. That a bit later but first a tour around the property.

The People Connect

For me travelling is not only about seeing countries and visiting landmarks. It’s about people and my interactions with them.
So here is Farman. Born in Afghanistan and migrated to Germany when he was just ten years old. All he can say is ‘Aap kaise ho’ meaning ‘How are you’ which is close to his language and ours. Rest is only English and German. And when he asked me what I do and saw my blog and my travel booking website, he gave me an idea which had never occurred to me.
And then a beer for me on the house after I paid for one. My son would probably be his age if I did have one. These memories are so very special to me. Not the beer but Farman.

An awesome breakfast spread

Dinner options
Holiday Inn Express does not serve lunch or dinner. But just a 5 mins walk away are two of our favorite joints which we love to frequent only when traveling abroad. McDonalds and KFC.

So how good is Munich North for your stay? Well we quite loved the location and the hotel. Moreover it’s quite easy to commute from here and the most important landmarks are close by including the crowd puller Olympia Park.
If you loved the feel of Munich North, PIN it for planning & forward for friends!
