This Unsung Hero from BITS, Pilani

Well there are not many institutions in the world which can boast of such great achievers. Be it the successful entrepreneurs or directors, CEOs and top business leaders of Indian & multinational organizations. And then you have some big names in the field of academics, defense, police, social activism, community development and politics. Also many in art, music, theater, dance, literature and movies. But there are many more who have quietly gone about their corporate jobs and nurtured their talents and hobbies unnoticed but with great success. In my book they are the terrific few. And one of them is this unsung hero from BITS, Pilani with whom we take this interesting journey today.

It was three years back that we became friends. Although just a year junior in college we never got the opportunity to meet during or after our college days. But his interests made me sit up, as I started observing what he posted on social media.

His likes and passion as it turned out were very similar to mine. Except writing and music which I am not too sure about. But I guess every BITSian loves music. Be it the cats, the chomus or even the ghotus and daads in both categories, the terms coined in the mid 70’s by a bunch of our talented seniors. Well they were again in a different creative league all together with unmatched potential. They were the real cats.

Meet this talented BITSian

Vishnu Patro is a BE-Electrical & Electronics from BITS, Pilani from the batch of 1978. He is currently based out of Delhi and is engaged with a reputed multinational organization as a Director. Born and brought up in Brahmapur in Orissa, he loves his traditional Oriya cuisine. And his Nikon D5000 loves to hang around with him even in his office. Waiting for the right frame to click.

I had been following Vishnu’s travel to the hills last month and virtually reliving my own holidays to Mussoorie recently, till he was back in Delhi. And then came a bit of a health scare for him. So here is this surprise gift from me to cheer you up Vishnu. The Gift of Appreciation. Be up and running and keep providing us more moments of joy. Till we say Cheers in Delhi sometime soon.

Although can’t cook much myself except a few dishes, I love to eat. And Vishnu a feeler in advance. Would love to start my day with a breakfast of idli and dosa. It would be pick and choose for dinner depending on the weather. But lunch would be strictly Oriya cuisine. The thought itself is making me hungry as I write and check out the options.

Lunch & Dinner

And this would be nice with the drinks

And an uncommon dessert

But if I am feeling too full after my delicious breakfast and lunch, I would rather pack these dishes for a late night dinner at my hotel in Chittaranjan Park, Delhi.

If you loved this BITSian travel, photography, art & food journey, share & PIN it for friends!

  1. I love the photography pictures, especially the ones from the village of elders and would love to try coconut chutney. Looking forward to learning more about the people from BITS in your book.

  2. Travelsandwandering

Great showcase of Vishnu’s trips Mussorie looks like a stunning place to visit and I would love to try each of those dished. Also loved the candid pictures like the one of the group at holi.

  3. Vishnu Sir seems to be master of all trades. I am amazed at the pictures he took in Rajasthan. His bespoke art also intrigued me. And finally, the food. Wow, I am craving for vermicelli idli, and that dhania palak dosa, I might be ordering some Tamil food now after finishing this comment.
