It’s time for a break. For all of us around the world. A break nobody wanted like this. But now that we are facing this pandemic, there is not much that we can do as common citizens except thank the tireless efforts of doctors and healthcare workers across the world and all essential services staff who are at the forefront fighting for us and our safety every moment. Pray for them and all those who are suffering and pledge our commitment to do our bit by staying indoors and taking all precautions that we all know well by now. And time to take a family break and do things differently.

Social distancing is the need of the hour. And with so much of trash floating around on various social media platforms related to the virus, I also decided to take a break from most of them. Hence for me now it’s also Social Media Distancing, music, reading more travel blogs, watching a lot of travel videos on YouTube and getting to see more of this beautiful world through them. Also time to look back at our travel last summer and write a bit about some interesting experiences.

Happiness will be back again. Till then it’s time to look back and rewind with the wonderful moments of our past. Take a break from our worries and concerns. And light a lamp or a candle in our homes to drive away the negativity and darkness that this unwanted virus has brought to our lives.

I have also taken a break from alcohol during this period of lock down. But today being a very hot day with the temperature rising here in our city, I felt like having a chilled beer. So I decided to take this virtual break at Delirium, Brussels. Come along and have a relaxed evening with us.

Delirium Café is a bar in Brussels known for its long beer list. Located in the heart of the city, the Delirium Cafe is one of the most famous bars in Brussels and is a literal paradise for all the beer lovers. The bar holds one of the largest beer varieties in the world and has also been recorded in The Guinness Book of Records. On offer are beers from over 60 countries with over 2000 varieties, including many Belgian beers.

The bar is located in the small alley called Impasse de la Fidelite / Getrouwheidsgang, only a couple of hundred meters from the Grand Place. The Jeanneke Pis statue is across the street from the entrance. The bar’s name comes from the beer Delirium Tremens, whose pink elephant symbol also decorates the cafe’s entrance.

Delirium is huge with multi levels, including a semi secret outside roof patio. The beer decor throughout creates a fun, casual and retro environment. The staff can be either super friendly, or robotic, depending on how crowded it is. For beer lovers, this touristy bar is a must visit. Come let’s go in and let me take you around to give you a feel before we settle down.

You can choose from the Trappists, famous Belgian Abbay, strong brown beers, fruits or lighter from Belgium and the world. And for lovers of different tastes, unusual beers like chocolate, banana, with walnut Coco, spices, hot pepper, gingerbread and also gluten free beers.

Add to the variety you will find a great decor and thousands of souvenirs on beer and breweries : old advertising plates, trays and glasses. There are jam sessions every Thursday, concerts from time to time and more surprises everyday. Time to settle down for a great evening.

Delirium Cafe. A must visit while you are in Brussels. Even for teetotalers for the experience, with a soft drink in hand and some cheese snacks to go along.
For now though it’s time to stay home.
Check this place out when in Brussels. PIN it

Wish I know about this bar when I visited Brussel. The decoration looks interesting. I love how vintage it is! Beers from over 60 countries with over 2000 varieties sound definitely amazing. Hope the travel ban is going to be over soon so I can visit places like this.
Definely Delirium Cafe is an experience not to miss when in Brussels! Indeed its crazy how many varieties of beer they have! Though trying something unusual like banana or coriander flavoured beer, trying the authentic abbey beer when in Belgium is definitely a must! Thanks for this virtual tour. Awaiting the lock-down to be over, so I can actually visit the place.
I totally loved your introduction here. It was so creative; like a story and then a tour!
I don’t drink beer or any alcohol, really, but the way you wrote I was so drawn in and felt like I was taken on an actual tour by a tour guide. Thanks so much for the entertainment!
Thank you Alexandra. Love that you enjoyed 😊
What a cool way to spend the day! Would love to have a chilled beer too. Haha! Anyway, thank you for sharing about Delirium Cafe. My husband would love this place. It’s nice to know that they have a lot of beers available. Over 2000 varieties is just amazing. Would love to visit Brussels once this pandemic is over.
I like this virtual tour. I would like to drink beer or coffee in this Delirium Cafe; it has an impressive interior and a charming atmosphere. I would like to see these secret outside roof patio; it is so intriguing. It’s a difficult time for everyone when we have to stay at home. Great that we can support each other and dream of the next trips.
So true Agnes and am sure together we will get over it hopefully soon.
What a cool place. Delirium has so many visitors for a good reason. When I visited Pecs in Hungary many years ago, a couchsurfer took me to a local pub where they had at least 100 types of beer. I remember I tried beer with cherries and chocolate beer. I am not a beer fun but the experience was so cool, as I didn’t feel I drunk beer. Thank you for sharing this great place with us.
Stunning photos, this is an incredible virtual journey. I like it. Thanks for this opportunity! We hope that soon we will leave the places of self-isolation and will be able to travel, as before! Health to all!
I am thinking beer beer beer and then Brussel emerged . Yes who would not relate belgium with chocolates and beer. Lockdown has also made me to cut down on all bad habits and made helped me to become more disciplined now. And i am much grateful for that
Yeah even I am reformed now. Feeling more healthy.
