charming The Hideaway Bedzzz,Varanasi

This was probably my 50th visit to Varanasi, a city I love to call by its other name, Benaras. And at times Kashi, whenever I remember the glorious past of this magical religious city. Also known as the “City of Lights” it’s the land of Shiva that millions flock to every year for pilgrimage. But this trip of mine was different because with me was my dear friend and spouse on her first visit ever to this holy city. Moreover we were heading to celebrate a special occasion and it had to be in a crazy cozy den and a cool nice place to relax. And as always we found ours on Booking.com. The Hideaway Bedzzz,Varanasi.

This trip was different in another way. We were traveling by train after almost five years and that naturally added to the excitement. And it also provided the opportunity to experience the buzz of the beautified Howrah station once again. Moreover also a great chance to observe travelers and co-passengers, a favorite past time of mine.

The train reached Varanasi two hours late which made our arrival closer to our check-in time. In half an hour we were at our hotel in the most prime location of Benaras, Luxa Road. This is where I wanted to stay. With Godowlia the central chowk a 5 minute walk, the Ganges Dashashwamedh Ghat a further 5 minutes while the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Gate 4 again 5 minutes from Godowlia.

The First Impression of ‘The Hideaway Bedzzz’

Our first sight was this poster ‘Will You Not Welcome Us?’ written in Hindi. That was exactly the question in my mind as an attendant quickly picked up our luggage and entered the cute glass capsule lift. The hotel is on the three floors above the ground floor which has few commercial shops, an ice cream parlor, a tea shop and a departmental store. As we alighted from the elevator our senses were pleased. This was not a boxed accommodation. We could see the sky anytime and every time we came out from the room.

The check-in was smooth and after a relaxed coffee and freshening up we were ready to hit the streets with the humid and really hot day not being able to dim our enthusiasm. After all we were in Benaras, my favorite city having lived here for four years and a city which has stayed in my heart all of four decades thereafter. And when in Benaras nothing would seem to be a problem despite the crowds and the chaos.

Now come feel the place

Even before you move out from the hotel to explore, you’ll get a feel of Benaras the magical destination. With poster displays which are real cool. Let’s go around a bit.

I had an opportunity to meet the writer of this blog while traveling in same train to Beneras.
It was a wonderful experience. Later I gone through his blogs and found his writing is very lucid and very informative

  2. I’ve never heard of Varanasi or the university. It’s amazing that it’s the largest of its kind in the world! I love that you got to celebrate your anniversary in such a special way, too. Congratulations!

  3. I was hoping to see more about this ancient city but the base of where you stayed is quite nice and very clean and contemporary. I love how they really are attentive to their guest and making the place very confortable with different public rooms and even helping to celebrate a special occassion for your visit. Now that’s going the extra mile for your guests!

Varanasi looks like a very fun city to visit! It is fascinating that it may be 3,000 years old. The hotel looks like an excellent place to stay. I would especially enjoy the terrace with views of the busy street and the live music every evening. I will keep this in mind. Congrats on 25 years of marriage!

  5. WoW! You have been 50 times in Varanasi, that is impressive. India is in my “to travel” list for a long time and Varanasi is for sure one of the places I would love to visit. I did not have a clue the city is 3000 years old, older than civilisation. The travel bloggers lounge seems like an amazing place to relax and do some online work while you travel. Those live music evenings are also something I would like to enjoy when I visit it.

Enjoyed reading your blog post! I have not been to Varanasi yet, and was surprised you have been there 50 times! The hotel looks cool, and I love the paintings in between room doors on the corridor. It’s so nice that they surprised you with a cake and dinner on the house on your 25th anniversary! Also, great job at singing! 🙂

  7. Hideaway Bedzzz Varanasi looks like a perfect base to explore this fascinating buzzing city. I love the sit-out area on the top floor and that there is live music every evening. Also great that they cater well for vegetarians, but I know that this is the norm in India. I would seriously consider a stay there if I visit Varanasi.

I have visited Varanasi a few years ago and I remember how special this city was. I didn’t stay so close to the ghats though, I remember that my hotel was further away from the river. The Hideaway looks like a perfect hotel and hostel for all budgets. I like their friendly and bright design and it’s so great that they organise live music evenings as well.

  9. Wow! Those rooms are cute. They definitely made it so lively given the small space with the bright colors. The throw pillows were a nice addition too. It made the perfect accent. The artwork also brings out the room’s character.
