Today was a get-up-late day after the hectic last night, including some wonderful music from the ‘Two Champions on the Streets’. But we made it early enough, not to miss out on the complimentary breakfast. More so, because Scandic offers truly a wonderful spread.
Our Scandinavia journey continues and am so happy that we decided to do it this year, and not keep it for sometime later. And till now it’s been a fabulous holiday, probably because I started planning well in advance & that too, to the minutest detail. You could go through my post ‘Scandinavia. A travelogue’ for some useful planning & saving tips.
Today is about exploring more and so Oslo, here we come to make the best of our today. All the must visit attractions is what we focus on. And what better than a 24 hour hop-on-hop-off bus to take us around.
So there we go. A short walk from Karl Johans Gate to National Theater and we are ready to board, with tickets already booked in advance for you, me & my spouse. Should we start? Let’s get going..

That’s the National Theater, another view, from we have just boarded

Nobel Peace Center

Oslo City Hall, the famous landmark from where the Nobel prize is awarded to the recipients.
And from the platform here below.

Oslo City Hall, back view facing the harbor

Fram Polar Ship Museum

Maritime Museum

Kon Tiki Museum

Norwegian Museum of Culture & History

Akhershus Castle & Fortress

Oslo Opera House. A walk to the top is a beautiful experience in this free to walk up structure. The wonderful views of Oslo, the center & the Oslo fjord Archipelagos, as you sit down & relax, is what all visitors to this fastest growing European capital have high in their priorities.

Viking Ship Museum

Oslo cathedral

The Giant Wheel next to Oslo Central Station
And now some very special moments, special views.

Lovely boats. A feature of Scandinavia, And you can board one of these from the harbor to the Museum Arena on a return ticket.

Creative geniuses, the Artists who come out with such great thoughts. One from the Museum Arena.

My all time favorite..The Sail boats. Just love them & am going to surely be on one of them experiencing the beautiful Archipelagos of Oslo.

And these close neighbors..You can jump from one to the other..What a beauty of a sight.
The Museum Arena has some breathtaking views. Let’s experience some of them.

Time now to head back to the center of town & towards the truly visual delight, the Oslo Palace, the Palace park, the Palace pond & more. Let’s check it out.

And this last view as we head back is the Royal Palace Guard house, built on Swiss Architecture.
The day was awesome. And our night is still young. Oslo, you have won our heart. We are in love.

In addition to the landmarks, boat rides and more what I also loved was the music on the streets in the night in the most happening street of Central Oslo, Karl Johan’s Gate.Came across some awesome amateur musicians & loved their performances.
