‘Why do you want to waste a day visiting the Zoo, that’s for kids man’ messaged a friend of mine jokingly when he heard we were heading to Singapore Zoo. ‘If going to the zoo is for kids, I would love the kid in me to stay longer’, I messaged back. Travel to Singapore Zoo is a must while holidaying in the city.

If you also have similar thoughts, one of the activities that you must not miss when you Travel in Singapore is a visit to the ‘Singapore Zoo’. Ranked 4th in the world the zoo attracted 2.11 million visitors last year. Among the most frequented Travel attractions of Singapore in addition to ‘Sentosa Island Singapore‘ and ‘Gardens by the Bay‘, this destination has a nature charm which is hard to match.

The Singapore Zoo, occupies 28 hectares (69 acres) on the margins of Upper Seletar Reservoir within Singapore’s heavily forested central catchment area. It is operated by Wildlife Reserves Singapore, who also manage the neighboring Night Safari, River Safari and the Jurong Bird Park. There are about 315 species of animal in the zoo, of which some 16 percent are considered to be threatened species. Being one of the few ‘open concept’ zoos in the world, the animals are all kept here in spacious natural enclosures separated from visitors by use of motes, rocks, water bodies and plants or glass for smaller species.

We just purchased our ticket from the counter which was not too crowded. This is probably because most prefer to buy tickets online these days, with options of various combo packages available and with offers during festivals to help you save. You could do that, but for now come with us for a small glimpse of an awesome day, encountering species we don’t get to meet everyday. And take back some fond memories.
Let’s Explore

Special Attraction – The White Tigers
It was a bit cloudy now with an occasional drizzle. The Lions were all still deep in their sleep, a little away from us as we crossed their large open enclosure. The White Tigers though made their presence felt and hogged most of the attention.

Plan your visit
Singapore Zoo. It’s huge and features 11 zones, each taking you through some of the most distinctive global wildlife habitats in the world. To experience it fully you need at least a couple of days.

In addition you must not miss out on the next door award winning Night Safari with Tram Ride, watching the wild animals made visible by lighting that resembles moonlight. Also not to be missed while you are here are the ‘Singapore River Safari’ and the’ Jurong Bird Park’ spread over twenty hectares with a collection of over 5000 birds from 400 species. We missed it this time but would stay in my bucket list for our next trip.

Singapore Zoo. A fun family destination.
