Vienna, Street Art & Danube

The other day a close friend rang me up after a long time, although we keep communicating through social media off and on. He had just read my post A cruise on Danube Vienna and wished to know whether I had also recorded some of the widely talked about Street Art Paintings of Vienna. He happens to be an artist himself. A painter.

Danube Canal Cruise, Vienna, Austria

The Danube Canal is an attractive canvas for artists and the vast empty spaces have been used over the years to express thoughts, feeling and concerns through paintings. With burst of colors through carefully curated murals to the anonymous scribbles, the street art here has transformed the area and given it a unique character that sets it apart from much of Vienna’s otherwise pristine reputation.

In fact in the last couple of days I have watched this video which I had recorded, more than once . And tried to analyze the paintings to understand what goes on in the minds of creative artists. From the time of conceiving a thought to sketching it in their mind to the final expression for us to enjoy. And perhaps plant a seed in our mind for thought. Wish to watch. Here it is for you and my painter friend. Have a look. And enjoy this ten minutes journey.

Hope you enjoyed the creations. PIN it for later

  1. I think we’ve become more open to street art and I think that’s great. Street art is a brilliant way for artists to express themselves and share their work. There’s nothing better than spending time with a friend while also appreciating art.
