The other day a close friend rang me up after a long time, although we keep communicating through social media off and on. He had just read my post A cruise on Danube Vienna and wished to know whether I had also recorded some of the widely talked about Street Art Paintings of Vienna. He happens to be an artist himself. A painter.

The Danube Canal is an attractive canvas for artists and the vast empty spaces have been used over the years to express thoughts, feeling and concerns through paintings. With burst of colors through carefully curated murals to the anonymous scribbles, the street art here has transformed the area and given it a unique character that sets it apart from much of Vienna’s otherwise pristine reputation.

In fact in the last couple of days I have watched this video which I had recorded, more than once . And tried to analyze the paintings to understand what goes on in the minds of creative artists. From the time of conceiving a thought to sketching it in their mind to the final expression for us to enjoy. And perhaps plant a seed in our mind for thought. Wish to watch. Here it is for you and my painter friend. Have a look. And enjoy this ten minutes journey.
Vienna Street Art on Danube. Some food for thought as you relax and ring in the new year.
Thank You for making our year so very special & wishing you a very Happy New Year. Have a wonderful 2020 💞
Hope you enjoyed the creations. PIN it for later

Just wondering, what kind of camera do you use (for travel)?
Cheers!
A lot of my pics are on my mobile camera and some others on my Canon.
We love wandering around new destinations to discover the local street art. We came across some fabulous examples in recent trips to Spain and France. It’s gives you a good glimpse into the culture of a place.
Travel is about new experience as and these street arts certainly gives me and my wife too a lot of insight.
That little cruise looks so awesome! I really need to travel more haha. So many cool things to see and experience in the world. 🙂
Yes Matt so very important for all of us to keep our balance with work.
There is a lot of talent wrapped up in that street art site. That would be awesome to see. Very cool art.
Yes Bill. No doubts when you watch them closely.
The street art around Vienna is superb. It looks like you loved Vienna a little more than the other places you have traveling in the last few months.
Thanks for sharing this. I always feel that street art gives you a deeper insight into the place you are visiting. A little glimpse into the soul of the town or city.
That graffitti….it’s one to die for!!!! Very colourful, free-spirited and literally everywhere….Danube is a sight to behold.
Yes Michael. Absolutely.
This is the kind of graffiti that is not an eye sore. They are pretty and some are really artistically made. Vienna is beautiful and I only wish I could travel there to see these things myself.
You are so right Kristine. These graffiti attract attention because some of them are really worth pondering over. I am sure you will visit Vienna sooner or later. If there is a will there is s way.
That is fascinating to see. Living in NY we see “graffiti” all the time but this is really next level. I would never have thought to have seen something like this in Vienna but it is so nice on the canals.
Yes Scott. Truly fascinating street art.
Very cool street art. Do the artists have to apply for a permit or ask permission to paint in an area? I know that artists are very creative and can blend their project into the next one. But I didn’t know if the government was involved. The art is lovely!
No these walls are apparently free for all to show their creations and all that we see are unlicensed graffiti.
