Take a virtual break at Delirium, Brussels

It’s time for a break. For all of us around the world. A break nobody wanted like this. But now that we are facing this pandemic, there is not much that we can do as common citizens except thank the tireless efforts of doctors and healthcare workers across the world and all essential services staff who are at the forefront fighting for us and our safety every moment. Pray for them and all those who are suffering and pledge our commitment to do our bit by staying indoors and taking all precautions that we all know well by now. And time to take a family break and do things differently.

Family time

Social distancing is the need of the hour. And with so much of trash floating around on various social media platforms related to the virus, I also decided to take a break from most of them. Hence for me now it’s also Social Media Distancing, music, reading more travel blogs, watching a lot of travel videos on YouTube and getting to see more of this beautiful world through them. Also time to look back at our travel last summer and write a bit about some interesting experiences.

Happiness will be back again. Till then it’s time to look back and rewind with the wonderful moments of our past. Take a break from our worries and concerns. And light a lamp or a candle in our homes to drive away the negativity and darkness that this unwanted virus has brought to our lives.

I have also taken a break from alcohol during this period of lock down. But today being a very hot day with the temperature rising here in our city, I felt like having a chilled beer. So I decided to take this virtual break at Delirium, Brussels. Come along and have a relaxed evening with us.

Delirium Cafe, Brussels, Belgium

Delirium Café is a bar in Brussels known for its long beer list. Located in the heart of the city, the Delirium Cafe is one of the most famous bars in Brussels and is a literal paradise for all the beer lovers. The bar holds one of the largest beer varieties in the world and has also been recorded in The Guinness Book of Records. On offer are beers from over 60 countries with over 2000 varieties, including many Belgian beers.

The bar is located in the small alley called Impasse de la Fidelite / Getrouwheidsgang, only a couple of hundred meters from the Grand Place. The Jeanneke Pis statue is across the street from the entrance. The bar’s name comes from the beer Delirium Tremens, whose pink elephant symbol also decorates the cafe’s entrance.

Delirium is huge with multi levels, including a semi secret outside roof patio. The beer decor throughout creates a fun, casual and retro environment.  The staff can be either super friendly, or robotic, depending on how crowded it is. For beer lovers, this touristy bar is a must visit. Come let’s go in and let me take you around to give you a feel before we settle down.

  3. This was in place virtual break for me. I live close to a restaurant/bar that is renowned for having a lot of different beers, including the Delirium Tremens, which is very tasty. They have found a way to make it even more so, offering an option that is half DT and half a Danish strawberry beer. The end result is delicious

I wish we could indulge in a few bottles of beer during this lock down period. But our city has declared a liquor ban! Ugh. As soon as this is over, beer will definitely taste so good.

  5. I totally enjoyed this post! We all have to stay home for health and I also agree that I’m doing less of social media scrolling now. I enjoyed visiting this bar, with your photos and your descriptions, really felt like a vicarious visit!
