Early mornings are always exciting. More so when we are on a holiday. The relaxed first cup of tea, the morning cool, a feel of the near vacant streets, the sight of owners with their cute little dogs enjoying their little time out and our anticipation of a super exciting day ahead. Today was special for another reason. We were traveling to one of our dream destinations. Salzburg.

After a wonderful evening out yesterday enjoying Mozart & Strauss Concert, Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna we were fresh as ever. A good few hours sleep, a nice freshen up, picking up our packed breakfast from the hotel and we were soon on the way to Opera House for our bus. At exactly eight in the morning we set off for Salzburg. We are now around halfway at Landzeit Countryside for a short break.

The restaurant is just lovely with a range that will get you crazy, if you are a food lover. What attracted our attention was the delicious and yummy dessert options. We picked up a couple, got it packed, had our hotel fruits and sandwiches, a cappuccino for me and a cold coffee for her and next we were walking down the green enjoying the breathtaking pristine natural beauty of the place. After all, it’s Austria. It’s beautiful.

This was probably just a precursor to the visual treat that was awaiting us as our journey continued. The meadows, the lakes and the lovely houses lost in green. The mountains, the different shades of dark clouds and then the sun making its way, the blue sky and the cotton clouds. The experience, just beyond words.

If the pictures itself are so beautiful, you could imagine what the real feel was for us. Just amazing. As our journey continues, come experience a little of the beautiful countryside with us.
We are now at Lake Wolfgang which is around thirty five kilometers before Salzburg. Lake Wolfgang is a lake that lies mostly within the state of Salzburg and is one of the best known lakes in the Salzkammergut resort region. The market town of Saint Wolfgang and the lake are named after Saint Wolfgang of Regensburg, who according to legend, built the first church here in the late 10th century.

Lake Wolfgang stretches about ten kilometers, has an area of about thirteen square kilometers and is surrounded by the Salzkammergut mountain range. The area around the lake was the location of several Heimat film movies, a genre popular in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. There are some nice hotels around next to the lake and it’s just the ideal place for you to spend few days if you wish, soaking in the peace and beauty. We are now heading towards Salzburg and soon would be there.

We are now in Salzburg, also labeled as Austria’s “most inspiring city”. As we go around discovering what inspires travelers across the globe to visit and holiday here, we first take a quick coffee break. The weather is cool and sunny. And we will be back soon.

Austria. Charmingly Beautiful.

As a new mom who LOVES to travel, I’m always looking out for places that are calm, quiet and peaceful so that the baby can feel at ease. We went to Vienna in August and though it was lovely, it’s just too hectic to bring the baby around the city. Next time, we’ll consider going to Salzburg. Thanks for showing us the nice pictures!
